When do a baby's milk teeth appear?

When do the different milk teeth usually erupt? Although there is no standard pattern, here are some key dates.

The milk-tooth calendar

Exactly when the teeth erupt can vary greatly from one child to another. The first tooth generally appears before the sixth month, but it may break through earlier or later than this. In general we can observe the following pattern:

  • around 6 to 8 months, the 2 bottom middle incisors;
  • around 8 to 10 months, the 2 top middle incisors;
  • around 10 to 14 months, the 4 remaining incisors, two at the top and two at the bottom;
  • around 12 to 18 months, the first 4 molars at the top and bottom;
  • around 12 to 24 months, the 4 canines at the top and bottom;
  • around 20 to 30 months, the 4 remaining molars, at the top and bottom.
